Digital Scrapbook Pages!

Well, I'm jumping right into the new year with digital scrapbooking!  I went back to check and I did zero pages for 2011!  I'm so far behind.  My friend Abbey has a great system where she just scrapbooks stories, so she can scrapbook anything she wants at anytime, but I just can't break through the concept of chronology.  So it's time to play catch up.  At least digitally.  I don't seem to want to work on paper scrapbooks by myself, so that will have to wait for another Girl's Weekend retreat.  But I'll share the two pages I did today!  I made one for Serenity's first pigtails, and another for the crafts we did last winter.  I'll list the crafts in case anyone wants some ideas for simple crafts to do this time of year!

1.) Shape Teddy Bear Valentine.  We did this with sticky foam and cardstock.  I cut out the shapes and she assembled them into a bear, using circles, ovals, triangles, and hearts.  She gave it to Daddy and spelled Love on it for him.
2.) Shamrock collage.  I just took a piece of contact paper, cut a shamrock out of middle of a piece of construction paper and took the outside to use as a border for the collage.  Then I gave her yellow, green, and white tissue paper to fill in the middle.  We used it for a suncatcher all spring!
3.) Fruit loops necklace.  Great lacing practice.  And very tasty.
4.) Marker painting.  I made a jungle in the living room, and as one of the crafts I had Serenity color a jungle with green and brown markers. We painted the marker with water to make it run and look more jungly.
5.) Cardboard road.  I pull this out every now and again still when we're in need of an activity.  I drew the road for her WOW car, so it's a pretty wide road.  We keep adding more locations. We started with a pond and a farm, and I put Little People figures and her play barn on it so she had places to drive in her car.  Then she colored a garden and a zoo and added stickers. We've had mountains, parks, lots of different places.  It's perfect for a rainy day!
6.) Snowman out of cotton pads.  I use the flat circular cotton pads for washing my face (occasionally..when I have time for that kind of stuff =)  They made perfect snowmen!  We added snowballs and faces out of sticky foam =)
7.) Kazoo:  Saw this craft on Family Fun.  Make a kazoo!  Painting, decorating, and then music.  Great fun!
8.) Starting seeds:  I let her pick out her own seeds and we started them inside.  They really grew!  I was a little surprised because I let her take care of them herself, but they made it despite getting a LOT of love =)  We will definitely do this again this year, hopefully I give the garden a little more attention this year.
9.)  Lollipop flowers: We made these for her Valentines last year.  I have no idea what we'll do this year, especially since she actually has a whole class to give them to!  We'll see!!
10.) Playdoh Snowmen: Just push googly eyes, buttons, and beads into play doh!

And without further ado, here are the pages!  Hopefully I'll have many more soon!

December Daily

December Daily

For the last two years my friend Abbey has inspired me to take part in December Daily.  The basic premise is that you take pictures and scrapbook every single day for the entire month.  I love it because it shows everyday life as well as all the wonderful traditions and fun we have this time of year.  Plus, it gets me out of my scrapbooking slump.  Not so much that I do paper scrapbooks, but digi-scrapping still counts. =)  I just can’t motivate myself to do paper scrapbooking without company.  I need Abbey to live next door, she makes pages nearly every night!  But back to December Daily.

Two years ago I made myself a set of Photoshop templates and used that for each day so that it was quick and easy to make my pages.  Last year I wasn’t quite as diligent, so I was content with just journaling and posting on my personal web page every day.  I think this year I’ll try to get a scrapbook page a day again, and even print it!  However, today is the first day of December and I have no template yet!  But the day isn’t over!  Wish me luck!

Here are a few pics of past December Daily pages, to inspire you and myself. =)   I used Creativity by Crystal's December 2009 paper for all of it, from www.jessicasprague.com.
Christmas Morning!

Using Cotton Balls for Snow Balls.  Eric made it into a sled. =)

Making a Christmas present for Daddy... I drew the tree outline and she finger painted and added the stickers!

Baking together

I used my JOY stocking hangers as a photo prop... love these pics =)

I love the single big photo... too bad I am incapable of making decisions like that every day.

ABC I love U art!

I saw this picture here at bumpsmitten.com and knew Serenity HAD to have it for her room.  She’s been obsessed with letters since her first birthday.  I made it in photoshop and framed it, super quick and easy.  I just typed in the letters in a simple font, duplicated the layer, and then colored the top layer pink and the other purple, erasing the letters that I wanted to have in purple.  Then I used the heart shape tool to draw the heart over the o, and clipped in digi-scrapbooking paper from The Shabby Princess.  It's not hung yet but it's ready!

And here is the updated to-do list with all my lovely checkmarks!  Getting closer!
1.)    Paint and finish new secret room
2.)    Paint Serenity letters
3.)    Remove Closet doors and paint trim
4.)    Make some sort of art display, maybe clipboard
5.)    ABC I love U art
6.)    Hang letters and lanterns (probably above wherever I decide the bed goes.  Oh, and the bed has new pink sheets!!!)
7.)    Organize closet
8.)    Get hinges for dollhouse door
9.)    Consider new chair or other seating???
10.)                        Sew and dye curtains
11.)                        Paint bookshelf pink and secure to wall (Now think I’m going to buy this**)

Digi Scrapbooking Sources

Digi Scrapbooking Sources

Ok, here are all my very favorite digital scrapbooking sources!  I keep it fairly simple, but I have a few places I find really useful.

www.shabbyprincess.com.  When I was first considering the switch to digi-scrapbooking, I found a ton of gorgeous free kits to download from here.  I downloaded all of them and have used them again and again in my pages!  I usually go here first to shop now when I need new things as well and I love everything. =)

www.jessicasprague.com.  She has awesome tutorials, both free tutorials and classes.  When I was ready to move a little bit beyond the basic “fill in a square with a picture” scrapbooking her classes were perfect.  She’s also got a great collection of designers for her shop too, and every Wednesday she puts stuff on sale for a dollar!

www.beckyhiggins.com.  She has a fantastic website too, but the thing of hers that I use the most is my “Best of Becky Higgins Sketches for Scrapbooking” book.  It’s a collection of the sketches she published for years in Creating Keepsakes.  I’ve turned nearly all the sketches into photoshop templates and I just use them over and over!  It makes it so quick and easy, which is definitely helpful the busier I get.

www.aliedwards.com : I love her site for ideas on topics mostly.  She makes beautiful things!

www.inkubook.com :  I like this site because they let you put in 120 pages.  At the time it was the biggest I could find, and the quality is great.

None of these sites asked for recommendations, they are just what I use!

Scrapbook Pages!

Well, I did it!  I am caught up to New Years in my digital scrapbook! I am so thrilled as this was one of my major goals before the new baby arrives.  Here are a few of my favorites from the second half of the year, starting with our summer Gathering!

If you want to hear more about my digi scrapbooking, here's my first post on the topic!
